If you're among the one in three people in the UK who has trouble sleeping, we may have just the thing to help. A 'magic' cream from high-street store Lush has been praised by insomniacs as the only thing that helps them to get a good night's sleep – and it only costs £8.

The Lush Sleepy hand and body lotion was originally a limited edition product, but has been brought back by popular demand. It is described as a "creamy cocktail of jojoba oil and lavender infusion to feel soft, smooth and relaxed" and it's recommended for customers to slather it on before bed for best results.

The natural product, which also contains the sweet scents of Tonka Absolute and Ylang Ylang, has proved a hit with shoppers, with many saying how effective it had been in helping them to unwind and drift off to sleep easily.

Sharing a review on the website, one even credited it for easing her anxiety, writing: "I used to take anxiety medication for 11 years and had to stop recently which was pretty terrible. But I found that using and smelling Sleepy can help my anxiety not be as bad." One person advised fellow shoppers to "believe the hype" about the cream, while another fan commented: "I was sceptical at first but it actually works!" The Sleepy cream is available in two sizes, at £7.95 for 95g or £13.95 for 215g.

Lavender oil has long been used as a remedy for sleep, with the National Sleep Foundation sharing details of a study that found lavender decreases heart rate and blood pressure, potentially putting subjects in a more relaxed state. In one study, subjects who sniffed lavender before bed were found to have had more deep sleep than those who didn't, so it may well be worth a try!
