The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln drops out of directing in season 10 as release date is confirmed
Andrew Lincoln cushioned his departure from The Walking Dead by announcing hopes to return as a director, but the actor’s debut behind the camera won’t feature in season 10. The 45-year-old actor previously stated last year his intention to head back to the set to ‘shadow a director’ and eventually direct an episode himself for the tenth season. According to Entertainment Weekly, this plan however hasn’t materialised – saying schedules ‘could not be aligned’ for Lincoln to return to the show. The show won’t be completely devoid of The Walking Dead alumni helming episodes though, with Abraham Ford’s Michael Cudlitz returning in the director’s chair following his debut on season nine episode Stradivarius.
The release date for season ten was also recently confirmed via the official Walking Dead Facebook page, with the show premiering in the US on Sunday 6 October. A UK air date hasn’t officially been announced, but past seasons have always aired on Mondays on Fox UK a day after the US date.
